Out & About
Our top 5 favourite things do in and around Oban
A Trip to Kerrera
If you fancy an adventure to an Island but also want an adventure, head over to Kerrera. You can get the ferry from Gallanach (just south of Oban, approx 9 mins). Please note it’s a passenger ferry and you can only take a car over if you live on the island.
When you arrive in Kerrera it’s well worth the walk (approximately 5km) to Gylen Castle and the Kerrera Tea Garden. There are also various honesty boxes on the island full of delicious treats.
Walk Highlands recommends a circuit route to give you a full Kerrera experience.
Visit Dunollie Castle
Just a little north of Oban sits Dunollie castle. It hosts a lovely wee cafe and a great playpark for little ones. If you fancy walking it takes approximately 15mins from Oban and takes in a woodland trail and seafront views.
Big and Little Ganavan
Just a little further past Dunollie Castle we have some gorgeous beaches. They are well worth the visit if you have the time and it’s a bonnie day. Our favourite is little Ganavan but big Ganavan offers a larger beach. Both are great for a swim and a stroll.
