Heatherfield House is a family-run guest house peacefully tucked into the hillside above Oban, just a short distance from the town centre, shops, and restaurants. We aim to offer every guest a warm and welcoming stay, ensuring that time spent with us adds a little something special to their holiday.

Beyond our comfortable rooms, we also provide free parking and a small garden where guests can relax and soak up the sun on our occasional sunny days.

History of the House: The house was built in 1849, when the Marquess of Breadalbane opened this part of Oban for development. In its early years, John S. McCaig—famed for McCaig’s Folly—acquired a financial interest in the property through a loan to the first owner.

Throughout its rich and varied history, the house has been known by several names, including Marquis Villa, St John’s School and Girls’ Training Home, and Heatherfield House Hotel. Today, it is simply Heatherfield House.
